Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Experience: Have a minimum of four (4) years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with packaging equipment manufacturers such as Hayssen, Holmatic, Osgood, and Prodopak is a preferred job requirement.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Job Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in servicing and report of specialty food processing equipment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential functions:Employee and Food Safety: Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMP’s as well as meets all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs. The employee is responsible to report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers. Works safely in accordance with company’s safety program requirements. Understands that employee safety and food safety are the primary goals for the company. Must work safely in accordance with the company’s safety regulations and have the ability to research, understand and implement OSHA regulatory compliance measures. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with sound safety practices and proper work methods or procedures. Wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Complies with all environmental laws and regulations for chemicals and lubricants as well as disposal and storage. Oversees the implementation of standard operating procedures for the maintenance of a clean and safe facility. Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements and understand what Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) are and is willing and able to fully support these regulations
Technical: Inspects plant machinery and equipment to ensure it is operating at peak efficiency. Fosters an environment of collaboration and trust within the maintenance department and with other departments in an effort to maximize employee productivity, increase morale, retention, and minimize turnover. Coordinates with department Managers to schedule preventative maintenance, major repairs, and temporary line setups. Develops system maintenance schedules; ensures materials are available for scheduled repairs and emergencies. Able to research equipment parts manuals and provide detailed ordering information for purchasing clerk. Ability to read engineering schematics for troubleshooting procedures such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic. Ability to provide direction for light fabrication. Initiates changes that lead to energy savings and improved operational efficiency of the equipment. Familiar with operational equipment efficiency (OEE) concepts. Ensures work orders are timely and efficiently processed. Develops budgets for seasonal plant overhauls, plant support during operations, minor and major line improvements, and capital projects. Creates and maintains records of work orders received and performed; Estimates materials, parts, tools and equipment needed for work assignments; orders and picks up materials and supplies from outside vendors as appropriate; prepares cost estimates for the job.
Personnel Skills Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers. Schedules, supervises, and directs the work of staff, ensures the work is performed in accordance with sound safety practices and proper work methods or procedure. Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; Responsible for the hiring and recommendation for promotion and/or termination of the maintenance staff. Ensures maintenance staff is adequately trained. Attends informational meetings and work-related training to keep abreast of any new policies and/or procedures or company developments. Responds and addresses complaints in a timely and courteous manner. Attends and participates in supervisor/management meetings, professional work related meetings, and conferences to enhance professional development;
Other Duties: Other duties may be assigned as required by the position. Must be flexible and be available to work weekends, OT as required, and be able to work day, night and graveyard shift.
