Location: Fresno, CA area

Salary: $95,000

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Safety, Biology, Food Production or related field

Experience: Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance

Working knowledge of Food Safety testing (Chemistry & Microbiology)

Working knowledge of GMP’s

Working knowledge of SQF requirements

Basic knowledge of FSMA

Advanced use of office applications such as Word, Excel, And PowerPoint

High Level of organization skills, including written and verbal communication, creative problem solving and commitment to company goals

Ability to speak to groups

Reports to Managing Partner & SQF Trainer

Summary: Directs the operation of the internal laboratory and the QA technicians. Works with 3rd party labs to ensure that sample results are received in a timely manner. Works with QA Team Leader to verify QC processes are being followed. Investigate and report on any customer complaints, incident reports, or corrective actions. Help continually improve the QA program.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises QA Technicians, R&D/QA Technicians, QA Team Leader, QA Technologists

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions 

Scheduling of Technicians

Works with QA Team Leader to ensure that all Quality Controls are met during receiving, production, packaging, and shipping

Directs operation of the in house laboratory including maintaining SOP’s, training staff, and reviewing documentation

Review all incident reports quarterly, and summarize and present results in a management meeting

Investigate, compile, and present information for Quarterly Management Reviews

Quarterly Audits of the plant to verify that operations are in compliance with policies and procedures

Prepare and submit Sample Analysis Request Forms to outside laboratories

Contact outside laboratories regarding samples, results and turnaround times

Attend/Assist in 3rd party audits and audit preparation

Review, modify and implement the Environmental Monitoring Program

Review, modify and implement Sanitation Verification Protocols

Investigate, address, and respond to Customer Complaints

Report on CAR’s in management meetings

Recommend, champion and execute QA program improvements

Execute Quality Calendar items such as GMP Audits, and brittle plastic/glass audits

Assist in designing training programs and training staff on QA/SQF policies/procedures

Review and enforce the Company’s food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
