Education: Bachelors in a safety science/ engineering/ industrial hygiene discipline, equal years of experience can be substituted for education.
Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in Safety.

Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.

Summary: Provide technical safety and health support to production and corporate personnel, develop corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinate safety training programs. Monitor safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations.
Corporate Safety Coordinator reports to Human Resources Manager. Although no direct supervision of other employees is involved, the Corporate Safety Coordinator must work closely with other company personnel such as; Engineering, Human Resources, Operations, Research & Development, and make independent decision directly related to the business.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Develop and maintain occupational safety and health policies and programs and establish annual safety and health goals.
Provide technical safety and health support and information to production and corporate personnel
Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses, Operator Training, etc. Review process operating procedures and records and provide input for safety and health considerations.
Support corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
Support plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs.
Serve as member of the Safety Committee and maintain representation from each department work groups, and coordinates monthly quarterly meetings. Review safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports. Create, implement, train and oversee the Emergency Response Team.
Responsible for the implementation of Hazard Communication program, and preparation of all necessary OSHA, Safety, Worker's Compensation reporting as required.
Maintain and keep up to date SDS, (MSDS) Sheets for all locations.
Monitor the OSHA statistics (incident rate) monthly, maintain and distribute the safety scorecard.
Stay up to date with Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and Federal and State safety and health regulations as they occur.
Advise manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is assured.
Participate in vendor audits and conduct periodic audits of safety and health practices to ensure compliance with company programs and Federal/State occupational safety and health regulations.
Monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and Worker's Compensation Claims.
Conduct investigations and review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follow-up as necessary.
Develop and maintain safety department budget.
Develop Job Safety Analysis for all employee categories to identify physical job task requirements and establish safe operating procedures to prevent injury or damage.
Review, establish and monitor a formal Early-Return-to-Work policy. Follow-up with employee upon return to work to formally document employee understands his/her work restrictions. Monitor progress on a weekly basis. Maintain relationships with Occupational Health Clinic(s), provide them with the company's return to work policy and job requirements on an ongoing basis.
Utilize the resources of third party loss control representatives through quarterly visits and additional resources as needed.
Communicate with employees, claims adjuster and physician, as necessary to monitor and develop claim to closure.
Establish goal for reducing claim frequency and severity.
On call to respond to all Workplace Accident Emergencies.
Maintain Emergency Evacuation procedures and ensure procedures are followed.
Responsible for the Environmental, Health, & Safety training of employees (Bi-Lingual). Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
Work with trainers to schedule forklift training and certification for all operators and/or conduct the required training.
Maintains training log and schedules and/or conducts training as needed.
Maintain first aid cabinets stocked with first aid supplies.
Attend seminars and other workshops.
Work with HR to complete and identify the physical requirements for all positions.
