Location: Grand Rapids, MI area

Salary: Open

Education: Minimum of a high school or high school equivalent education

Experience: Prefer 3 to 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level with maintenance responsibilities as a focus.

Manufacturing experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Familiarity with a variety of maintenance concepts, tools, practices, and procedures

Computer Proficiency: Adept at using computer office management tools, such as excel, electronic mail, word processing programs as an integral part of day-to-day activity. Ability to use applicable in-house systems to do necessary analysis and report generation required to support management and decision-making activities.

Position Reports To: VP of Operations

Summary: Manage the maintenance department to ensure maximum production and facility uptime, through the effective repair, safety, upkeep and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and adjacent property.

Expertise in Maintenance Processes.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.   This position has high time demands and pressures that require the incumbent to effectively prioritize, juggle, and manage numerous projects at once.

Strong leadership skills – Ability to build trust and credibility, provide direction, communicate and ensure alignment across the Maintenance Team and within the Leadership Team.

Strong interpersonal skills – Ability to establish and maintain effective key business relationships with both internal staff and external contacts.

Specific Responsibilities of the Position: 

Leads and provides direction to the maintenance team, supporting all tactical and strategic objectives. 

Accountable for leading all maintenance activities supporting the organizations goals and objectives, including the optimization of customer loyalty and the recognition of safety, productivity and financial goals.

Responsible for the development of preventive maintenance systems, supporting continued growth, transformational process and system improvements.

Oversee all outside contractors in charge of maintaining mechanical systems.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for all internal maintenance functions required to support a dynamic manufacturing environment. This responsibility includes: Directing reports to properly administer preventative maintenance processes. Address all safety, quality, and production concerns that require maintenance support. Prepare plant for the IQF season by maintaining equipment, and ensuring equipment is ready.

Responsible for all direct report and team development activities – positive and constructive performance management, the development of personal growth plans and individual coaching opportunities.  

Support driving a culture of safety within the maintenance department to include driving the appropriate actions to achieve safety goals.

Proactively collaborate to ensure effective communication of key issues, projects and initiatives

Develop mid to long-term maintenance department strategies that will support an environment of growth and a strong focus on customer loyalty, cost reduction, safety and productivity goals.

Other projects as required to include oversight for all maintenance department system implementations, etc.
