Location: Modesto, CA area

Reports to V.P. of Plant Operations

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years Maintenance Supervisory/Managerial experience.

Demonstrated track record of success in motivating, coaching, and organizing a strong technical and mechanical team.

Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills required, computer proficiency required.

Must have a good understanding and experience on ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems.

Must have a good understanding of utility systems, pumps, piping, boilers, and air compressors.

Must have experience with food product filling/packing equipment (liquid).

Must have a good understanding of electrical installation, power distribution, and wiring.

Must have a good understanding of electronics, relays, controllers, and programmable controllers.

Must have proven record of successful troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Job Description: The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for all phases of maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities of the Food Products Plant. In addition, this position will be responsible to meet and maintain current Federal, State, County and City government regulations as they relate to this facility. This individual will be responsible to meet production objectives through effective and efficient equipment operation and providing maintenance support to all area.

This position requires working very closely with the VP of Plant Operations to meet the objectives and Director of QA. This position requires 3 to 5 years ammonia experience. This Individual also must be available as needed on any shift or extended hours of service to deal with plant management coverage of operations (Business Needs).

This overall responsibility encompasses, but is not limited to the following:

Direct supervision of the maintenance crew and any other personnel who may be temporarily assigned to perform various duties and or maintenance tasks to ensure efficient and effective use of manpower.

To include but not limited to:

1. Interviewing prospective new employees.

2. Scheduling of labor and material to various maintenance projects and cost accountability for such projects.

3. Maintenance employee record keeping, time sheets, attendance records, etc.

4. Documentation of circumstances and initiation of disciplinary action for substandard work performance, unsafe practices within the maintenance department leading to and including employment termination.

5. Responsible for training and evaluating maintenance employees in regards to job performance, and safety.

Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient, effective facility and equipment Preventive Maintenance Program utilizing the existing MP2 program.

Directly responsible for maintenance and repair of all plant equipment and building facilities.

Directly responsible for maintaining and updating CalARP/RMP/PSM programs.

Directly responsible for directing and scheduling outside contractors (including contractor crews) who are scheduled to carry out projects or repairs which assist the maintenance department to meet the objectives of the department.

Directly responsible for ordering the necessary parts, material and tools necessary to accomplish maintenance tasks and objectives. Note: Purchases above spending limits are to be approved the by the V.P. of Plant Operations before the order is placed and confirmed.

Responsible to assist the V.P. of Plant Operations in establishing maintenance priorities and in planning for accomplishment of projects and objectives. This also includes cooperating with outside contractors who are awarded work within the operation.

Responsible for scheduling maintenance support for all plant operations per the objectives set by the V.P. of Plant Operations.

Responsible for performing safety inspections of the entire facility and reporting unsafe conditions in writing to the V.P. of Plant Operations and presenting to the Safety Committee.

Participate as a member of the Safety Committee and attend quarterly Safety Committee meetings.

Responsible for maintaining and organizing maintenance department areas, such as; ammonia compressor/engine room, motor control room, boiler room, maintenance storage areas, and racks, etc.

Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with other supervisory personnel, which will promote flexible, yet efficient, and economical plant operations.

Accomplish other duties as assigned.
